about

(This is the second track from that same night in Novato)
On December 19th, 2012, The Junkyard Academy attended an open mic at The Hopmonk Tavern in Novato, CA where host, Dennis Haneda introduced the band to the public for the first time. Because it was the last open mic of the year and just a few days before Christmas, the room was energetic, packed and appreciative having had their fair share of libation from the session room's very own bar.

lyrics

Verse 1
=====
She was – undeniably beautiful as the daughter of a farmer
And she – thought it was beautiful when the angels spoke to her
She hugged – her daddy and her mommy, (Isabelle Romeè) and cropped her hair ‘cuz
It’s not – wise to ignore commands from a blessed Deity, Aw can’t ya’ see?

CHORUS
======
She was a French-born peasant girl!
A French-born peasant girl!

Verse 2
=====
They tried almost every other tactic, embarrassingly tragic, it was almost slapstick
Then she showed up with a permission slip for the division to blast their asses down
Let’s raise the town, behind…

CHORUS
======
The French-born peasant girl!
The French-born peasant girl!

BRIDGE
=====
With her standard held up high, against the war torn sky
Who’d have thought she’d change the world
It was A ten decade fight – and she knew that she was right
‘Til thrice they burned her at the stake…
So much for give and take
(spoken) “Merci Dauphin Charles” (French – pronunciation “Mare-see doo-fah-Shar”)

Verse 3
=====
Her trial – So ecclesiastical practically gymnastic-al, a travesty…
Unfair – imprisoned in a tower, the woman of the hour
Thought that she could fly – Still she would die…”

CHORUS
======
A French-born peasant girl!
French-born peasant girl!
French-born peasant girl!
French-born peasant girl!
